Periods after postpartum

As we all know from the day we conceive, the periods' miss(the very first symptom of pregnancy).

Every woman is unique and so after you deliver the baby, the timing of the period starting again will also differ.

When I delivered my baby, after a month I got my periods. The bleeding after delivery was continued by periods but I was unsure whether it is a period or just normal bleeding after delivery. I had period symptoms and my blood was dark red while the blood after delivery is slightly different(light in colour and fewer clots) I checked with my gynaecologist and it was periods.

My sister had her periods after 1 year. So, there is no specific time for getting periods back.

I had heard somewhere that if you are not breastfeeding your baby you get your periods early but when I asked my doctor he said it is nothing like that.

I had very little milk. So, I used to feed formula milk to my daughter. One of my friends also got her periods after a month and she had no milk. I still sometimes think breast milk is the reason for an early period. Please let me know in the comment section if anyone faced this problem.

Care to be taken:

  • As you will be getting periods after a year or more, the vaginal skin will be very sensitive. So, wearing regular period pads can cause itching and rashes. Note: If you deliver normal take extra care if you get periods in a month. Use deliver pads after the postpartum period, they are very soft and comfortable.
  • If bleeding is very heavy talk to your doctor. When I consulted my gynaecologist, he prescribed me medicine (If bleeding is very heavy, he told me to have it). According to my opinion, it's better to avoid the medicine(the choice is completely yours).
