Food after 12 months

 Some babies even after 12 months do not eat properly. Don't worry if your baby is one of them.

As soon as baby is year old, stop giving them milk especially if he or she is on formula milk. If breastfeeding, you can continue till 18 months.

Don't force your baby if they are not having food. Forcing can lead to fussiness.

Try giving variety of food items. Avoid packed foods and junk foods.


"My baby is 17 months old and still sometimes she don't have food(like proper rice,dal and vegetables). My pediatrician said it is completely fine but see that she get those vitamins and nutrients from another food that she eats."

Baby food should include everything; vegetables, diary products, iron rich, fruits, dry fruits, non-vegetarian food etc. This will help in proper development of baby.

If baby is not having everything,it is ok. Don't compare them with other kids not even with same age group kids.

Avoid any distraction (TV, music, games ). If baby is not having food without these distractions then don't give food. When they will be hungry they will eat it otherwise they will get habit of these gadgets and Become stubborn.

The food you can try after baby is 12months:

  1. Biryani
  2. Pulav
  3. Methi paratha or any paratha
  4. Semolina with banana and dry fruits
  5. Dosa and idli

Important items to include in baby's diet:

  1. Black dates
  2. All fruits
  3. All dry fruits
  4. Vegetable salad
  5. Yoghurt and cheese
  6. All vegetables
  7. Whole wheat bread
  8. Chickoo milkshake(any fruit)
If baby is not having food some day then you can try these easy,healthy snacks:
  1. Sweet potato chips
  2. Rajgira ladoos
  3. Jaggery and peanuts.

My daughter is very choosy while eating, I sometimes stress alot while making anything for her. If you are facing the same try the recipes or foods I tried for my daughter which is healthy and nutritious.

  1.  Epigamia spread with chapati.
  2. Rice and yoghurt(Dahi)
  3. Fried rice:
Recipe-
Ingredients: Steamed rice, green chili(as per your baby eats spicy), turmeric powder(pinch), cumin seeds and curry leaves.
Method:

  1.  Take a vessel, add oil and keep on low flame. Now, add cumin seeds, curry leaves and chili to the oil.
  2. Add pinch of turmeric powder and mix well. 
  3. Finally add the steamed rice and mix well.

 Note: You can also add red chili powder instead of chili. Add salt when you steam the rice(It will mix well).

The recipe I have given is mine as per my baby's taste. You can add ingredients as per your choice.


Try giving different food items everyday. If your baby likes particular food and you give everyday then they will stop having it(my personal experience). 

It is absolutely fine if baby don't want to eat anything someday. If they are hungry they will automatically eat or tell you or cry. Don't forcefully feed them or scold them to eat.

Keep junk foods or chocolates out of reach from them. Once they see them they will never have rice, chapati or anything else( my personal experience 🙄).

If possible always have food with baby. Seeing you they might eat.

Even after all these things baby is not eating anything and their weight gain is not proper then please talk to your pediatrician.

Eat healthy, stay healthy.
